Radiostasis – The First Review!

  • 03/27/11
  • Alex Thomson
  • · News

Those fine people at Midlands Rocks have been kind enough to review our forthcoming EP, Radiostasis!

More importantly, they’ve said some very nice things indeed about it.

Read the full review here.  Big, big thanks for the kind words from the Horizoneers!

Radiostasis

  • 03/14/11

  • · News

We are very pleased to announce the details of our forthcoming release!

The new EP is entitled “Radiostasis”.  Track listing as follows:

1.  Stop!

2.  Bring Back the Sun

3.  Anxiety Breaks Us All

4.  Radiostasis

The EP will be available from the 15th of April 2011, both online and at our EP release gig – headlining The Temple at the HMV Institute!

“Radiostasis” will be available in CD and digital formats, with a global release on iTunes, AmazonMP3, HMV Digital and will be available from streaming services Spotify and WE7.

We cannot wait to get this EP out there.  As we’ve documented elsewhere, we’ve taken our time and worked hard to make sure this is the finest representation of our band we could possibly put together.

But that’s enough waffle.  It’s time for another taster of the EP, this time on the artwork side of things.

We are proud to present the front cover artwork for Radiostasis!

The artwork for the EP was put together for us by Gritt Design following collaberation with the band, using images from John Charlton Photography and Gritt Design.  We’re over the moon with it.

Hope to see you on the 15th of April!

EP release date – 15th of April 2011!

  • · News

We’re very excited to announce the release date of our second EP!  The release night will be at the HMV Institute, Birmingham, on the 15th of April.

We’ve been working on this since October and we’re absolutely convinced that it’ll make everything anyone else has ever done look silly by comparison.

The EP will be available in CD and digital formats, with a global release on iTunes, AmazonMP3, HMV Digital and will be available from streaming services Spotify and WE7.

The EP has been self produced and engineered by our very own Josh Watson, who commented, “With this release we’re pushing the boat out in terms of what an unsigned, independent rock band can produce by themselves with no label support.”

We cannot wait for this release to get out there.  Bass player and semi-professional perspirer, Alex Thomson, remarked, “As a unique and exciting proposition among unsigned acts in the UK, we’re ecstatic to have this opportunity to show the world the musical progress we have made over recent months.  Thanks for reading the update on our website, by the way.”

The EP is intended as precursor to the release of our debut full-length album, and progress on the production and promotion side of things can be followed in the blogs section of this site.

Details of the pre-order for the EP will be released here very soon, and you’ll be able to order the finished product in advance of the official release date.

Full track listing to be confirmed very soon - let’s just say it’s bound to contain some of your favourites from our recent live sets!

For now, a taster of the EP:

New Year, New Website, New Gigs!

  • · News

2011 is set to be a HUGE year for Captain Horizon and to kick things off we’ve completely revamped our website to coincide with the announcement of our first four months of gig dates. Put them in your diary, you won’t regret it!  With a run of gigs announced today leading through until the beginning of April, we’re playing some of our favourite venues with some of our favourite bands.  Do Not Miss These Dates.

Starting in the next two weeks, we’ll be starting a blog section featuring input from all band members, behind-the-scenes footage and exciting gossip!  What does Alex really think of Whitty?  How does Josh maintain his hair’s golden sheen?  How is Mez’s cat faring in these difficult times?  Answers to none of these questions and less coming right up!

We’re also very proud to announce the new media section of the website.  With live footage appearing on a 3D video wall, it makes the vast majority other band websites look like the fingerpainted scribblings of a drunk toddler.  Please feel free to get in touch if you capture a video of us you’d like to see up there!

With three battle of the bands victories under our belt in 2010, we’re itching to get back out there this year and show the world we’re the finest unsigned band in existence.

In the meantime, we’re introducing an array of new material into our shows over the next few months which is in turns beautiful, ferocious, catchy-as-hell and crushingly heavy.  No two Captain Horizon gigs are ever the same and we work our arses off every time we hit that stage – just look at that sweat fly!

Thanks to all those who have supported us in 2010, we love you and we’re desperate to see you at another gig soon!  Further announcements to follow, watch this space very carefully…
